York Sightseeing Cruise for Two
As anyone who has visited the city will tell you, York is a truly beautiful place and the chance to see the sights from the vantage point of the River Ouse is one which just has to be experienced. This cruise is a perfect way for guests to explore the city from the water, spotting a number of historical buildings as they wend their way down the river with an informative commentary provided by the skipper as the city slips past.
Notable historical figures who have recognised the importance of York as a hub of political, social and religious activity throughout the ages have included Emperor Hadrian, of the eponymous wall, Eric Bloodaxe, the famous Viking ruler and William the Conqueror who brought the Normans to the area and spearheaded the building of the Minster, which remains on the same site today.
This 45-minute cruise is a chance to view some of the most historically significant sights of the city and given that it was founded as a Roman settlement in 71 AD, there is plenty to see. Guests can choose whether to board the boat at either the Kings Staith Landing or at Lendal Bridge for this circular tour along the River Ouse. The typical route takes in some of the most impressive sites of the city, heading upstream to the Clifton Bridge to the north of the city and downstream to the Millennium Bridge to the south of the city.
As one of England’s best-preserved walled cities, York boasts plenty of beautiful architecture and a series of high ramparts and original gateways are visible as the cruise passes straight through the middle of the city. There are a number of different vessels used for these cruises, but they all feature heated saloon areas and open-air upper decks which provide incredible views from the water whatever the weather.
Your experience will last approximately 45 minutes. This experience is for two people however there will be other people there on the day. Unfortunately, this experience is not suitable for spectators.
The minimum age for this experience is 16 years old. This experience is available Monday to Sunday subject to availability, throughout the year excluding July & August, please note Bank Holidays are excluded.
