There are some traditions worth preserving, particularly the tastier ones which should be cherished and honoured at all costs. This boat trip is a chance for guests to immerse themselves in the time-honoured treats that have been handed down through generations of food-loving Brits to form a lunch which set anyone up for whatever the afternoon has in store.
The boat is a 1960s Berry Brothers launch which is decked out in oak and iroko and named ‘The Elberry’ after a picturesque cove on the south Devon coast. The heated dining area provides the ideal spot from which guests can watch the world go by, admiring the incredible scenery and enjoying the sensation of being on the water.
This two-hour long experience is an indulgent way to spend an afternoon, relaxing on board the beautifully appointed boat and making the most of a chance to view the scenic Devon landscape from a completely new perspective. The music is hand-picked to create the perfect ambience, whether that’s French café style, classic or Spanish jazz.
This rustic lunch includes everything a discerning picnic goer might pack, from freshly cooked scotch eggs and pork pies to honey roast ham and local cheeses, all of which can be enjoyed with a selection of breads, chutneys, pickles, olives and salads. This hearty fare is perfectly complemented by the gentle sway of the river as the boat gently moves along, providing an ever-changing backdrop to this magnificent meal.
The skipper is an expert in the sights and sounds of the river and will point out areas of particular interest and help spot some of the local wildlife, allowing guests to learn some of the lesser-known facts about this fabled waterway.
