Learn to sail aboard this proven Ocean Race Yacht

Clipper 60s Taeping, Serica and Mermerus have impressive histories, successfully completing four circumnavigations around the world. This day introduces participants to the principles of sailing in a relaxed, informal environment. A real “hands on” day out - everyone has the chance to actively crew the yacht, taking a turn at aspects from steering to working on the foredeck. Throughout the day the professional skipper and mate will be on hand to teach crew members the basics of sailing and talk them through all the manoeuvres.

The crew meet at 10am in the marina for a cup of tea or coffee and safety brief about the boat. Then head out for the River Hamble into the open area of the Solent. Lunch is provided onboard. You are welcome to sit back and enjoy the ride, however you will be encouraged to take part in the sailing which will involve taking the helm, hoisting and trimming sails. This trip runs from 10am to 4pm on selected midweek and weekend dates from late-March to October.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months. This experience is suitable for people over the age of 12. Anyone aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a full paying parent or guardian. Please ensure you give at least four weeks notice to secure summer dates as this is a seasonal experience. The skipper reserves the right to curtail the experience on safety grounds if the weather becomes severe. In the event that weather prevents the experience from taking place your date will be rescheduled. This experience is not suitable for those who suffer from seasickness.

Upon purchasing this Solent Sailing Experience voucher it must be activated by either you or the recipient before it can be used. You can only book in the Solent Sailing Experience experience at the venue if the voucher has been activated. Please do not turn up at a venue expecting to be able to redeem this voucher without first activating it. Upon activation you will be sent a pin number and unique reference plus the contact details of the venue in order to make your reservation.
